We recommend seeking a resting place or using “the huge windshield“ if the wind is too strong.
We have specialized in windproofing alcohol burners for many years. We will continue.
Awesome little stove setup
Goshawk really got it right with their little siphon stove. I’ve built and tested most of the diy designs, and bought and tested most of the commercial brands. This is by far the best siphon stove. The aluminium stove is slightly taller than the toaks Ti siphon but only 3g heavier (23g). The flame jet design is far superior to the Ti siphons from toaks, Lixada, tomshoo etc. the burner jets are drilled at an angle that causes the flames to swirl and focus, which makes them less affected by wind. And the burner shield concentrates the flame to give you a much hotter and more efficient burn than all other similar stoves The stand is light and sturdy. Or you can use an X stand such as for the Trangia etc on top of the siphon for even easier setup. It does need an external windscreen for best performance (BBQ tray foil works) The tiny little con of this stove is putting it out after you’ve finished if using the supplied stand and burner screen. You can’t remove the siphon from the stand. You either need to put your mug/billy over it (a toaks 650 will cover it) or make a small lid to drop onto the stove. Overall, a great design, and same weight as a toaks set up, but better performance and much cheaper.
The best alcohol stove I have used!
This is by far the best alcohol stove I own and I have quite a few! The flame that this little guy achieves is nothing short of incredible and almost rivals that of a gas burner. What is more the stove, pot stand and windshield weigh little more than a crisp packet! I highly recommend this stove for its performance, weight and cost (shipping and import costs to the UK were really reasonable too) 5 Stars from me!
This thing works fantastic.
This thing works fantastic. Lit up quick, seems super efficient as advertised and arrived promptly all the way from Aus to the US, even during the CoVid shipping struggles!
